Albuquerque Public Schools Foundation

Established in 1995.

The Albuquerque Public Schools Education Foundation (APSEF) is the 501c3 and is proud to serve the largest school district in New Mexico with 60,000 students across 143 schools across 1, 200 square miles. The student body is among the most diverse in the nation, and the school district is Albuquerque’s largest employer, with more than 11,000 teachers, counselors, educational assistants, and other staff members.

Over the past 30 years, the Foundation has facilitated more than $17 million in support of APS students and teachers through its funding of grant programs. Each year, over $765,000 is raised to be disbursed to support innovative classroom practices and educational opportunities.

In addition to the grant programs, the Foundation supports important district-wide initiatives in APS like social and emotional learning, professional development, special education programs, and encourages the community to give generously to APS teachers, students, and programs. Because of these efforts within our community, our teachers feel supported, our students are inspired, and our public schools are stronger.

Funding Priorities

The Education Foundation invests in important initiatives that enhance APS’s ability to provide a comprehensive educational experience that is high-quality, challenging, and inspires all students to reach their full potential.

In the past seven years, we have successfully served as a catalyst for nearly $4.6 million to support APS’s strategic priorities and initiatives. We help fund what a traditional school or department budget cannot. With support from employees, individuals, families, foundations, and businesses, the APS Education Foundation impacts students across the district through a variety of programs/projects. 

The APS Education Foundation receives support from corporations, individual donors, grants, fundraising, and United Way contributions.
